This Week
It's been a pretty draining week, physically and emotionally. My parents came out of mediation today but I'm not 100% sure what decisions were reached. My legs are caning from the change in running patterns. Still haven't been able to summon up any work outside of the comics (or inside for that matter), but I have a couple of pitches sitting in pretty nice places that I'm hoping work out for the best!
Been doing tonnes of research lately. Dinosaur evolution, deep sea biology, the Earth, and sifting through all the Mirage Turtles books, making notes for the upcoming Universe guidebook. I hope people dig it... Jake (Black) and Murphy have already done a heap of work on it. Kinda neat to have my first kinda real editing gig... kinda!
Picked up my comics for this week too. Here's what I had in:
Deadpool #900
Deadpool #900 johnson variant
Web of Spider-Man #1
Web of Spider-Man #1 Zombie variant
Batgirl #3
Batman #691
Blackest Night Batman #3
Detective Comics Annual #11

Pick for This Week, List for Next
Okay, this week I read through:
Spidey, Elektra, New Avengers, Avengers: Init., Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, X-Force, The Hood, Gotham Gazette, Green Lantern, Usagi, Ghost Rider, Wolverine: Origins, Old Man Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy, Aliens and Spidey's Short Halloween. My pick for this week?
Tough one...
Right now, it's New Avengers and Moon Knight in equal first. Very close behind that is Amazing Spidey, Elektra and Gotham Gazette.
While I dug how nicely Moon Knight wrapped up what has been a pretty fuckin' rad story by Mike Benson, New Avengers just had so many "moments" that I count as awesome. Spidey's "Power Man and Iron Fist" jab was hilarious, and Bucky Cap's sniping was very slick, and for some reason I dug the hell outta Hellstrom and his cockiness.
Joe Kelly's dialogue in Spidey was fantastic, and I always love the Spiderman/Wolverine "moments" too, and there's a great one here. Spidey's confrontation with Norman in the Dark Reign era is something I've been waiting to see for a while now, and this was pretty damn good. Not perfect, but the start of that sequence is fantastic, as is Norman's dialogue.
Elektra has just been a fantastic read all round, and this issue really started building some intrigue (I love intrigue). Gotham Gazette, while I haven't really been enjoying Battle for the Cowl, I did like the way this sorta wrapped it up and kicked things off from this point on. I hope Vale will have a bigger part in things from this point on though. She was great here.
Anyway, here's my list for this coming week, with a prediction for the pick:
MARVEL
Agents of Atlas #6
Amazing Spider-Man #596
Black Panther #5
Dark Avengers #5
Dark Avengers #5 pham incentive
Deadpool Suicide Kings #3
Mighty Avengers #25
New Avengers The Reunion #4 (of 4)
Thunderbolts #131 2nd print
Timestorm 2009-2099 Spider-Man
Ultimate Spider-Man #133
Ultimatum #4
War of Kings #4
DC
Batman and Robin #1
INDEPENDENT
Muppet Show #3
I'm thinking it'll be toss between Dark Avengers, Spidey and Batman and Robin. Leaning towards Dark Avengers though, based purely off the previous issues and the preview Marvel put out there.

Been Away for Work, Busy Busy, Comics, Jim Lee!
Been busy of late, abominormally so. Been in dire need of substantial moneys (like, savings "goes towards important stuff" moneys) so I've been doing my bit for the man. I'll respond to the comments just after posting this one blog though...
Last week, the Armageddon Expo came to Melbourne, which was cool to see. It's seriously nothing compared to the likes of San Diego or New York's Comic Cons, but it's one of the two bigs in Melbourne. Anyway, Jim Lee and the Wildstorm crew were there signing, and I got a wicked sketch (which I'll post later), but my goddamn, stupid mobile phone cost me a fuckin' one on one interview with Jim Lee! I had tried to organise something through the organiser of the show, but was unable to get in touch with him (instead having to leave messages on voicemail). I never heard back, or so I thought...
Last night my phone alerted me to the fact that I had four voicemail messages. All of them were from over a week ago -- INCLUDING the organiser of the show saying I could do the interview, I just needed to call him back before the show! I hate mobiles! I hate my mobile! Why did you not alert me IMMEDIATELY AFTER I missed the fucking call?!? NNYYYAAAAARGH!!!
(Thanks to Scott for doing his part in hooking that up though, even though technology failed me!)
Anyway, immediately after doing Armageddon and catching up with some mates (including Darren Close, creator of Killeroo -- something very cool to post on that tomorrow!) I had to shoot down to the Peninsula for work! Busy, busy, busy!
Still, I am home now and will have some cool news in the coming days.
Now for some regular/semi-regular fun:
Amazing Spider-Man #577
Wolverine #69
Batman Cacophony #1
Batman Cacophony #1 variant
Batman Cacophony #1 1 in 50 variant
Batman Confidential #23

Two Down (almost)...
I had a massive breakthrough on a script that was causing some troubles for me of late. It's the heavy hitting introduction of a character who is new to the comics and will hopefully be around for some time! His name (at the moment) is Hunter Mason, and we have seen him before (in one way or another)!
By the way... This is just concept art, and nothing definite for any of my stories, but Paul whipped this up for me to help me with some writer's block!
