You Know How I Know? Episode 4

Click the blog title! Go on!
This is the fourth episode of a radio show I take part in with a very good friend of mine. As this particular episode wasn't live, we had to remove the game review for timing. As conceited as it may sound... I like the sound of my own voice (I was preparing myself to shrivel up in embarrassment)!

Just some background here. Simon and I became friends as we were both film students a couple of years ago, and friends with Dave Jackson of Modern Gentlemen (an indie comic published right here in Melbourne!). Dave and Simon used to host The Last Radio Show on the Left, which was a late night radio sketch comedy show (I think if you go to Pleasantproductions.com, or if you google Pleasant Productions, you should be able to find some sketches online). Simon now runs his own production company, as does Dave (while studying Media, like myself), and also hosts the linked radio show!

Nicci Reid, who does the music bit after me also went to film school with us.

Don't really know the others though...

Two Down (almost)...

I had a massive breakthrough on a script that was causing some troubles for me of late. It's the heavy hitting introduction of a character who is new to the comics and will hopefully be around for some time! His name (at the moment) is Hunter Mason, and we have seen him before (in one way or another)!

By the way... This is just concept art, and nothing definite for any of my stories, but Paul whipped this up for me to help me with some writer's block!

Buffy vs Burning Man

If I can dig up the plot, I'll post it here like I did the others, but I thought someone might find this interesting, particularly if there are any Buffy fans out there. Originally, I was sitting on the fence between two stories - Burning Man and a pisstake on Buffy the Vampire Slayer where Mike and Raph encounter a colossal uber-vamp in the belltower of the Church Raph has been hiding out in. The short and curly of it is that basically the two end up teaming up with a girl cut from the Buffy mold. She kicks vampire ass and the three set out to figure out why this ancient monster (which feeds on other vampires as well) has been let loose. It was basically a "What if" sort of story but taking all the necessary precautions to avoid horrendous legal troubles. It was a fun story, but ultimately took a dirt nap in favour of Burning Man, which ties into everything else I've got coming along for next year.

Untold Tales of the TMNT

My good friend Ross May has posted the outlines and a commentary on his unpublished Tales of the TMNT comics that served as a follow-up to #22 (Change of Power) over at his LiveJournal page. I highly recommend everyone check it out, as it's a shame it never hit the shelves. Hit the link over to the right amidst the others to get there!

In other news, I'm really X-cited, as today I'm seeing the new X-files movie! I've been ploughing through the episodes on DVD again in anticipation and can't wait! I was super obsessed with the paranormal through my school years. There's even a pretty funny bit in my 6th grade year book that someone put in for me which I'll dig up and scan at some point soon. Either way, super psyched! I really dug the DC/Wildstorm X-files book that came out last night too!

Oh, and one more thing! Go and get Tales of the TMNT #48! It came out last night, and has a story by me in the back! Hope you all enjoy!

Interview!

While I was staying in New York City, I had the opportunity to meet comic fan and awesome dude Greg (known to some as Xeero), who runs his own column over at Bludblood.com. After a few emails, we did an interview about my upcoming and past Tales, along with some other works in the pipeline.

Check it out here!

The Burning Man

My final pitch for the 09 season of Tales of the TMNT has been approved and is titled "The Burning Man". It will tie into everything else I'm writing for 09, and will tie into both #50 AND #36 in it's own way. Miller will make a proper reappearance too, along with two more villains, both brand new!

It will be written for Jim Lawson I believe and will be out in November!

Taxes and Dark Knights

Just did my tax return. Money back guaranteed.

Also just bought the score to the Dark Knight (I like my scores). It is amazing. The first track ("Why So Serious?") is one of the coolest pieces of music I've heard. I'm also incredibly psyched as tomorrow is the Imax screening and my first Imax movie! I seriously don't think I've been this excited about a movie EVER!

You Know How I Know More?

Hey hey!

Just dropping in with a quick note to say that I will be once again doing a quick little comic review/chit-chat today on my good friend Simon J Green's radio show "You Know How I Know?" today at 3:00 pm on Melbourne's SYN 907 FM (that's 3:00 pm Melbourne time for those of you O.S.). Keep an ear out, I'll be talking about what is probably one of my all time favourite comic books, along with some of what I consider the best Joker stories in anticipation of The Dark Knight on Wednesday!

Listen online by clicking here (and then clicking the play now button in the top right corner).

Good News

As things stand at the moment, I will be writing 3 Tales of the TMNT comics in 2009. All three are already in production, one of which (actually two of which) I have been teasing here. At the moment, the three stories are tentatively titled "Expose`", "Them Again", and "Scarred". The last title is likely to change though.

All can be read on their own, all link in to Tales #36, and one will be loosely linked to #50 (which will in turn, link #50 to #36).

I know for sure that Paul (Harmon) is going to be tackling two of these stories once we finish up #50.

Awesome Three-Way...

How's that for a title Will?

I just had an awesome catch up with Ross May and Will Tupper. Ross May mopped the floor with me at Mario Kart on the Wii, and has some awesome little things happening at the mo. Check out his blog/livejournal!

You Know How I Know?

Yesterday I had a brief return stint to radio! Loved it! A good friend of mine has started a new radio show on Melbourne's SYN 907 FM station, all about reviews. Looks like I'm the resident comic reviewer (we also have a friend doing movies and another doing TV, while Simon - the host - does the rest). It's on air every Monday from 3 pm to 4:30 Melbourne time, but you can check it out at syn.org.au . Tune in next week, I'll be reviewing Steve Purcell's Sam & Max books, along with a couple of other golden pieces from my collection!

Also - so stoked about this - I just got my tickets to see The Dark Knight in IMAX next Wednesday! That's two days before you suckers in the US!

(No offense to you guys in the US. You're not really suckers. But I still get TDK before you!)

X vs X

I just wrote what could become my favourite panel of all time. If it makes it through, Turtle fans will see something really cool come #56.
