Creator Owned!

I'm very excited to report that my first creator owned effort has finally taken off! Posted are very rough designs for key characters in a yet to be titled Western horror book. The extremely talented Italian artist Dario Folliero (dfolliero.blogspot.com) sent me these this a couple of hours ago after receiving the first part of the script earlier today. I'm really excited about this! My current immediate projects are now The Return of the COWBoys of Moo Mesa, this, and Tyrant Earth, which also looks like it will have an attached artist very soon!

More as it comes! Fingers crossed everyone!

The Pipeline and Hulk

I have four new projects in the pipelines at the moment, one of which (if all pans out well) will be a non-turtles sci-fi book with Paul Harmon (the dude has some AWESOME ideas and if you haven't visited his artblog - click it over on the right there). I've been doing more art for Cereal:Geek which has been a heck of a lot of fun, and I've been told #4 is almost ready for print, so all you Ghostbusters fans be sure to check that out (along with all you Turtle, Transformers, Carebears, GI JOE, MOTU and whatever else fans).

A follow up to Tales #36 has been approved and is headed into script phase today!

My creator owned project is nearly totally scripted, and I've started the art!

Indy 4 got me all reinspired and I've started what I'm hoping will be my final draft on the COWBoys of Moo Mesa story!

Also went and saw The Incredible Hulk with some good friends the other night. It was fun. I'm not a big Hulk fan, and to be honest, I don't particularly enjoy Edward Norton, but I had fun in this. It's far from perfect, but it's a decent night out. I really liked the first one, and I think if the two films were combined -- particular elements from both -- it would've been a top notch comic book movie and Hulk movie.

Do-Over

Well, I'm home, back into uni, working on comics and some art projects, generally settling back in. Time to prioritize and get down to business. What am I working on right now?

1: Rewriting the second and third issues of The Return of the COWBoys of Moo Mesa.
2: The final batch of art pieces for Cereal:Geek's Tobin's Spirit Guide.
3: A Carebears art piece (you read right!).
4: A short for Heavy Metal Magazine.
5: A Marvel Comics Presents pitch.
6: Tyrant Earth.
7: Dreamland - an Australian horror piece set in rural Victoria, dealing with racial tensions between Aboriginals and a white settlement. Incorporates elements of Aboriginal mythology.
8: Morning of the 4th Day: Another horror piece about a group of recent college graduates reuniting for a weekend on a quiet, holiday island. Probably will be set in Australia.

I'm also working up a couple of ideas for more Turtles stories, including something big which I figured would be worth pitching with the 25th Anniversary coming up.

Anyway, Mirage has just put up the cover and official synopsis for Tales of the TMNT #50, so check that out here.

Here's another teaser for the issue...

Back Home

The Summer work period has come to an end and I'm once again back home in Mont Albert and unemployed. Sveet.

It's good to be back, and I can finally get focused on my comic book projects. Moo Mesa is moving along nicely, TMNT is happening and I should have some more Titan stuff out in a week or so. Working on a Tobin's Spirit Guide for Cereal:Geek which is something I've wanted to do for YEARS, so I'm stoked to be able to do that. Here's a tease...

It's taken me a fucking long time to reach a point where I'm happy with the above character's head. It looks simple, but there was an essence to the character that I never felt I'd captured in any of the other attempts. I'll post the other attempts later, but RGB fans will know where I'm coming from...

Bit braindead at the moment. Been watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer pretty much non-stop for the past couple of days, which has been fun, but clearly hasn't helped.

Anyway, here're some scribbles I did for the Moo Mesa project. Roughs of how I see certain characters in the story...
