Monsterism #54

Been kinda deflated today. Tried to get back into the routine of things since the Skrulls started revealing themselves, but it just hasn't been working. Hopefully soon...

Anyway, here's some fun:

MONSTER: The Sandworm
MOVIE: Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice was one of those movies I watched almost as religiously as Ghostbusters and the Dark Crystal when I was a kid, and I was mainly hanging out for the neat visual effects that go hand in hand with Tim Burton movies of this ilk. The Sandworms always got me. I loved them. They showed up fleetingly, but those moments were worth more than the entire film back then. Nowawadays I realise how completely fucking hilarious Michael Keaton is in that role and how much I wish they had've made that sequel back in '98...

Aww man, one of my absolute favorites! But that could be due to bias of Burton as I love everything he does! I've seen this movie so many times and I'm still not tired of it and still find everything as hilarious as I did the first time seeing it, or maybe even more so funny due to me being older and catching things I didn't catch as a kid.

I've become a bit disillusioned with the man's work of late. I think his last truly great piece of work was Nightmare Before Christmas, the rest have been kind of hit and miss with me (although Corpse Bride was incredible).

Still, this and the Batman movies are defining films for me!

Aww man, dude!! You didn't like Sweeney Todd?!? I thought that was amazing, and Sleepy Hollow kicked butt. But my favorite movie of all time will always be Edward Scissorhands! I even made my own 4 foot figure of him! Literally sweat and blood went into making it. Literally.

Actually, Sleepy Hollow was REALLY good, and the Headless Horseman is lined up for a monsterism feature! I clean forgot about that!

Damn, man, don't forget! He's an absolute favorite! Especially love when he gets his head back, boy oh boy!

I'm one of the few people who don't really LOVE or HATE Burton's work. He's done some very cool stuff and some things I don't care for.

Oh man, but speaking of the Dark Crystal, have you heard the Henson Company is doing a sequel?! When I heard the plot for it it sounded great, which is not the norm for most sequels.

Yeah! I can't wait! It's in production and all the story elements sound great! It's been hugely delayed though, as I think right now, Fraggle Rock is the focus. It's the Clone Wars/Dexter's Lab guy that's directing it - Gendy Tartokovsky (or something to that effect).

-->> ..seems like goin around and coming around for all these properties.

D.C. was never my favourite, but i was there at the announcment of D.C. 2 in 05 i believe.

All puppets .. ( except cgi implemented for backgrounds and such ) was promised. I have not looked much into production as of late tho'. Vaughn warns me of a new Muppet Movie done in line with the classic original one from the 70s.

I think Burton's interpretation of Sleepy - and Sweeny was brilliant. Hollow was one of my favourite stories when i was small and Ray Park was excellent in making the Horseman so killer and powerful.

~~**Whatever, forgot what i was rambling about.

The Beetlejuice toon- was where i was at after the movie.

Yeah! Jason Segel and Nick Stoller of Forgetting Sarah Marshall are writing and directing! Really, really looking forward to it! Same with the X-mas special supposedly on track for this X-mas... And Boom! has the comics coming out! Muppety goodness all around!
