Back!

Happy Easter! I just got back home after being on the move for a while (uni assigments and work... same old, same old). I've been working a fair bit out of my university email account, so if you've emailed my regular account and haven't heard back, give me a day!

I was talking to Dan Berger, Andres Ponce and Paul Harmon a week or so ago about some marketing strategies and here's one I hope everyone will get involved with.

We're going to start creating banners for Tales, so when they hit Previews, we'll update the banners, so new fans will know when to go and get their preorders in. Here's the one for #59, which follows up the Hun story that just came out a couple of weeks ago. So, take this, put it into your message board or forum signatures or whatever and just help get word out. All the talkin' is done for you peeps! We'll be rolling out a couple of others soon too, but for now, here's the starting point. Thanks in advance to everyone who helps out!

A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Printers...

Head over to ninjaturtles.com for a rather interesting story! The observation I made was this...

(A) Is the way the panel should be, while (B) was what I noticed (and only after my third look too!). While I can't reveal what's being said, what I can say is that (B) would've caused some headaches in regards to #36 and everything coming (from me) after this issue. There was one other tiny thing, but I can't really reveal that without ruining things...

Ultimately, I really have to give a huge thanks to Eric and Dan for jumping on it. And the Powers that broke the disc in transit!

Can't wait, I'm really excited about this one! Hun comes back, Lin comes back (google Tales of the TMNT #36 for more info), and a brand new villain makes his debut! Nasty bastard too... Oh, and there are explosions and lots of big fights involving heaps of people. There's no real need to know anything outside of who the Turtles are if you're new to the whole thing, but if you want to get the full THX style experience of this one and really milk it (like the cameos and whatnot), you might want to see if you can dig up Tales #36 & #50, and maybe pick up Tales #56 when it hits next month (nudge-nudge, wink-wink)!

The World According to Dan aka #50 Release Date

My good friend and boss (not sure too many people can say that these days) Dan Berger has informed me that Tales #50 is due at Diamond on the 16th of Sept. which means it should be hitting the shelves that week, if not sooner (depending on how fast Brenner get it printed).

Forgetful Jones

I'd been meaning to post this as soon as I got back from the States, but a number of things just got in the way and I simply forgot, so my apologies there!

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who came up and spoke to me at the New York Comic Con. It was absolutely amazing being able to meet and speak to people who are just as enthusiastic as myself about the TMNT, comic books and the like, and it was even more amazing being on the other end of the table - actually signing everyone's books and doing sketches for people!

If anyone did get a sketch from me for their books or collections or what have you, could you give me a heads up, I'd love to be able to get a picture of them to post up here!

I'd also like to thank Eric, Mike, Jim and Peter for letting me tag along and making me feel part of the group! This was the first time I'd met these dudes, having only spoken to Eric a couple of times via email and Peter once before as an unashamedly gushing fanboy!

I also can't go without thanking Murph or Dan, Murph, without whom none of this would have been possible and Dan for his constant support since I started working on Turtles. Both are easily two of the coolest people I will ever know.

Also, I know this was posted over on Murph's blog, but this was such an indescribably huge moment for me, largely as a fan, but also as a professional. Being able to meet and hang with these dudes was huge for me, their work is what inspired me to get into comics and is something that's been with me since I was little, so on a professional and personal level this photo means a lot. It was also taken by Peter Laird, who's work means an incredible amount to me personally and serves as a constant source of inspiration in my own work. When I was first told that Peter would be at the NYCC, I was incredibly intimidated, but when I actually met him that melted away immediately, and it was a pleasure and an honour to get to know him over the course of the weekend (God knows how many times I read that book on the flight home!).


These are the dudes who shaped, and continue to shape, my career, and I can never thank them enough.

One final thing - I have a back-up story appearing in Tales of the TMNT #48. Raph fans keep an eye out! It's being illustrated Kennon James, and inked by Eric Talbot. The core story has been written by good friend Jake Black and features art by TMNT legend Jim Lawson.
