As a film, it's masterfully constructed. As a story, it's masterfully told. Every performance is incredibly strong, even Maggie Gyllenhal manages to wipe the floor with what Katie Holmes did in the first one with just as much material, if not less. There are so many moments where you forget you're watching actors in a film and just become totally absorbed by this world presented to you. Coming from a film background, I'm constantly looking at the craft of the film, and it's put together damn near perfectly. It also manages to stand as a very separate entity from Begins. It doesn't rehash anything from the original and certainly is not more of the same. It's everything that was good about the first one amplified and expanded upon.
Tonally, as a colossal Bat fan, this film totally nails it. It nails the Bat, The Joker, the city, Two-Face. Everything. The only thing I wanted more of was the Scarecrow. It was very cool seeing the character again, but I wanted a bit more.
I sat in this movie and didn't want it to end.

-->> ..so it's a very good example of the rare time a sequel outshines the preceding film, it appears.

It also appears that it's more than just a 'comic - book ' movie.

Well ,alright.. your little speech peaked my interest.

and i'm glad we get a REAL, honest Two-face ( even if he has a twist ) .. and not this bull-shit from the nightmare of BatMan Forever..

(( .. well and at least Dr.Crane is in it a bit ..)).

Just got back from TDK, and it definetly lived up to all the hype. Really aside from some on the nose dialogue, and a bit of an overuse of Bale's bat voice, it really was a damn near masterpiece.

Damn, it's that good? I'll be seeing it in a few hours, I'm actually about to head out right now to make sure I get our tickets and seats. Sure, it's hours away, but it's the Two-Face movie we're talkign about here, directed by Chris freakin' Nolan! :-D

And Trist, man, you've got more awesome points from me hearing you have a film background as I'm a film major myself!
