Daily Monsterism #2

Monster: Kali
Film: The Golden Voyage of Sinbad

This is still easily one of the coolest sequences ever put to film. Ray Harryhausen's stop motion work is legendary, and this, in my mind, is some of his best, second only to the army of skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts. The full fight sequence is ridiculously well choreographed and it truly does look as though Sinbad and his crew are fighting a living, six-armed statue. This is one of those monster moments that's been seared into my childhood memory and every time I watch it, I feel exactly the way I did the first time I saw it. Few films have such resonance for me.
