Thicker Than Water - The Sequel to Serve and Protect

Since the publication of Tales #36, I've had a lot of people emailing me about the sequel - when it will happen, what will happen in it, etc. Unfortunately, the story I'd conceived as a sequel was turned down, and I haven't heard either way on the subsequent follow-ups yet (though those stories are more along the lines of spin-offs,
rather than sequels like this one). So, out of fan curiosity and due to request, here's the sequel I pitched.

I have since pitched other stories involving the characters of Diamondback and Copperhead, so hopefully one day they'll grace the pages of my favourite book!
The intention was to create new, temporary villains that could come back every so often and kind of fill that void to stop people, both inside and outside the fanbase, continually asking for the Shredder to come back. But I digress...

I would have put in a special order at my local comic shop if this could ever see the light of day. Oh well, maybe there's still hope . . . someday. I appreciate the attempt to make this arc as character driven as Frank Miller's Batman stories.

All I can really say is write in to the fanmail section. I was really humbled by the response to #36, and would love to keep telling the story, along with other ones, but the only way I think that can happen now is if the fans actually make themselves heard rather than just posting on the boards! Thanks for the support though Adam!

Yeah, I would have loved for this to actually come out. I loved Tales #36 because it was a cool urban story with no scifi and art that was actually good to look at.

Some slight inconsistencies in the story (Mike seems to go from being captured to uncaptured and back to captured somewhere in the middle) but otherwise it's pure gold. At least I got to read the pitch and see the concept work. Thanks for showing it.

Yeah, the problem with pitching is that you've just gotta give the main deets and assume those it's going to can read between the lines. If I were to give a detailed synopsis, or treatment for this whole arc it'd be huge, but needless to say any gaps in the pitch get filled in scripting. The problem with this one is that there are certain "trigger" events that need to happen for certain other events to unfold. It's safe to say Mike is rescued, because he's alive and well in the here and now. Thanks for checking it out though Rach!

I like it, hope you get Greenlit for this sometime, but I hear there might not be a Mirage Publishing after 2008 so let's hope for the best. Also, there weren't any Cell phone cameras back then. ;D

True, but if you hold comic book dates and times to continuity you trap yourself horrendously. By that sort of logic Flash Thompson apparently only went to Vietnam a couple of years ago.

Thanks Tok, Paul's responsible for those. I would've killed to have had the chance to work with him on the Turtles again. I'd also kill to see him on Batman!

By the by, where did you hear the 2008 rumor Spidey?

Steve Murphy has said on his blog that he doesn't know what the future holds for Mirage Publishing after 2008, if there is one at all. Kinda sad too, I was hoping to work on a Turtles book when my Art and writing skills improved.

Wow. Nicely written. And the "relic" Nice touch..Kind of like the reliquaries (I know I spelled that wrong)of saints.
Hmm. I wonder, How would a clone of the Shredder Mutated into a turtle feel if it ever came too?
LOL. I bet it wouldn't be happy with anyone. Woe to the world.
Shredder clone, Hiya Slash. *smiles* Sorry...It just jumped in there.
Anyway, very nicely done Tristan.
I still say you'd do a hell of a job as a regular series writer.
