New Concept

What do you think? If you go back through the older posts, you'll find concept art of a character called Copperhead that Paul Harmon and I came up with. He's changed, doesn't go by the name Copperhead anymore, totally new character now.

Stoked...

My next comic made the Previews Spotlight! Probably no biggy to a lot of others out there, but this is boss for me! For those who don't know what this means, Previews is like a big, chunky magazine/catalogue for retailers, dealing mainly with comic books. It comes out every month, two months in advance (this months advertises what's coming in September). Anyway, whoever puts the mag together picks out what I assume are books they think are worth checking out. It could have more to do with the numerical significance than anything else, but still, spotlight on the second comic rocks me on this night of nights. Just had a game of DND too, and dominated a couple of fights, so I'm on a roll. Had a job interview, should be interesting to see how that goes.
Picked up my comics too. Am officially broke now. Also bought Smash Bros. Brawl, which finally came out here (may have been a contributing factor to my financial situation). I wish tax time were sooner -- the return should be joygasmic.
Peace!

Postscript: Thanks Jake for filling me in on the Previews inner workings!

The Fruits of Writer's Block

Sometimes, I get Writer's Block and it makes me crazy. This is usually what starts to happen. God knows how many of these insane scribbles I've drawn over the years. I'm rather proud of this particular brainfart... Drawn 5 minutes ago.

Writer's Bane

I have the worst case of writer's block and it's for one fucking line between Miller and...!

Almost.

New Acquisitions...

Today was a very good day.

As I left the house to go to uni (where the internet works), I found this in the mail...

Stoked to get this, as it's the first new music from the lead singer, bass player and drummer from my favourite band -- Reef. Joining them is Lady Sovereign's guitarist and together they form the band Them Is Me. CD straight up rocks. It's down and dirty indie rock the way it should be, and I love every second of it!

This joins the other CD I picked up at the end of last week - The Music's Strength in Numbers album. Another solid, solid effort from the Leeds lads and I've also just learned that they're touring here at the start of August! Stoked!

King Cobra

Based on something I came up with ages ago, which Paul Harmon did an awesome re-do of, which I used as the basis for this.

Clayface

Clayface is one of my favourite Bat-villains, mainly because of what they did in the animated series. I like the idea of Clayface in the comics, but they really managed to hit the nail on the head in the cartoon. I think the character needs a rewrite in the comics universe to bring him out of the B/C-list. If I ever got a shot at Batman, bet your balls (or whatever) I'd jump straight onto Clayface!

The Pipeline and Hulk

I have four new projects in the pipelines at the moment, one of which (if all pans out well) will be a non-turtles sci-fi book with Paul Harmon (the dude has some AWESOME ideas and if you haven't visited his artblog - click it over on the right there). I've been doing more art for Cereal:Geek which has been a heck of a lot of fun, and I've been told #4 is almost ready for print, so all you Ghostbusters fans be sure to check that out (along with all you Turtle, Transformers, Carebears, GI JOE, MOTU and whatever else fans).

A follow up to Tales #36 has been approved and is headed into script phase today!

My creator owned project is nearly totally scripted, and I've started the art!

Indy 4 got me all reinspired and I've started what I'm hoping will be my final draft on the COWBoys of Moo Mesa story!

Also went and saw The Incredible Hulk with some good friends the other night. It was fun. I'm not a big Hulk fan, and to be honest, I don't particularly enjoy Edward Norton, but I had fun in this. It's far from perfect, but it's a decent night out. I really liked the first one, and I think if the two films were combined -- particular elements from both -- it would've been a top notch comic book movie and Hulk movie.

One's Shadow

This is the first page of my next TMNT story, appearing in the back of Tales of the TMNT #48. The art is by Kennon James and is pretty rockin'! Check out his blog here! Eric Talbot is going to be inking this, so you know it's gonna look ace!

Baxter Stockman

I did this for TMNT fan and all 'round good dude, Vaughn Michael. Behold, old school Baxter drawn my way (dammit)!
Waiting for word back on a couple of really cool projects coming up, and Cereal:Geek #4, featuring the first part of my Tobin's Spirit Guide work is nearing completion, so keep an eye out over at cerealgeek.com and cerealgeek.blogspot.com!
